ABOUT DEXTER'S DREAM

Dexter’s Dream began with one boy’s experience of the world and a simple but powerful idea: different ways of thinking should not just be understood, they should be celebrated.

After navigating moments of misunderstanding, exclusion and confusion, Dexter imagined something better. He imagined schools where neurodiversity is woven into the culture. Where children learn early that every brain works differently and that difference is something to value, not hide. That dream became a growing vision shaped by real children, real experiences and real conversations.

Dexter’s Dream is child-led at its heart. The ideas are inspired by what young people say they need, what helps them feel included and what would have made a difference to them. We are developing practical, meaningful ways to support this vision, including providing neurodiversity-positive books to schools, offering sensory tools such as fidget resources, supporting inclusive areas that are accessible to all children, and creating resources that help celebration and learning events feel authentic and empowering.

This is not about labelling or separating. It is about shifting understanding. It is about helping children see themselves in stories, understand their friends better, and grow up knowing that different minds bring strength, creativity and perspective to the world.

Dexter’s Dream is still growing. What you see here is just a snapshot of developing ideas, shaped by children and fuelled by hope. One boy’s dream is beginning to spark a wider conversation, one that believes culture changes when young voices are heard.

And this is only the beginning. ✨
